The OHIO DELI

Here is the Ohio Deli, home of the Dagwood Challenge (as seen on Man vs Food). We stopped by here on a whim on the way to the cigar shop.

Converted fried chicken house. The place is
painted green and white as a tribute to the Ohio
University. Nice place, WAY out of the way.

The inside looks like a cross between a retirement home cafeteria and a nice Arby's. There is a front counter and also have table service. There is a fantastic dessert fridge in the front.

Here is the Dagwood Challenge. There is a pound of each...ham, roast beef, and turkey as well as an entire sourdough loaf, a whole tomato, onion, lettuce and mayo. This also comes with over a pound of french fries. The goal is to finish everything on the plate in 30 minutes. All of this for about $9.

Here is the regular sized sandwich. This is turkey and capicola with banana peppers on a sub bun. This overstuffed sandwich is a fantastic bargain and a great lunch!

Here are the two sandwiches side by side. See if you can tell the difference between the regular sandwich and the challenge.

This was the best I could do at the 30 minute mark...the fries KILLED me!!! By the time I destroyed the sandwich the fries were cold and I just didn't have it in me to finish. I was glad to just get the sandwich down. Definately worth the 9 bucks.

Wedgewood Pizza, A Youngstown Favorite

FINALLY!!! One of the few things that I actually miss from Youngstown!!! Too bad it is all the way down in Grove City (about 25 minutes south of Columbus). Nice to have a friend that lives less than a mile from the pizza shop and likes to hang out with us on Thursdays!!!

Always nice to see that they are using the same logo and boxes from back home. The smells are the same when you walk in the door. Piles of pizza boxes along the rows of ovens...this is what heaven smells like!!!!

For our picky eaters, half pepperoni and half cheese. This is a classic! Delicious!!!

The true original Youngstown favorite. Pepperoni and sausage!!! Should have got mushroom as well but oh well. Can't wait to dig in to this. It is the only pizza that I will accept as a square cut by the way.

Come get a slice of Youngstown at the newest Wedgewood Pizza shop. Maybe Fernando will be there to say hello. Dine in or carry out only...call ahead it takes about 20 minutes.
